I love this barn. It reminds me of the barn from the Little House on the Prairie series--tucked away on the open plains of Kansas or beside their little house in the big woods of Wisconsin. But, this barn was photographed on a cold winter day in rural Michigan. And I painted it in my 4-season series of barns. It's simple, bleak. Besides the warm feelings I get from thinking it hails from Little House, it's stereotypical of my winters with SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), some mild low Vitamin D depression and cold, dark memories from abusive people and situations. Similarly, bleak. Gray skies. Nothing to color my world.

But, there is shelter-- a barn on the plains of our emotions.

Painted with white eye shadow mixed with white fingernail polish, muted eye liner and my finger tips along with make up brushes. Set with hairspray.
